My take on this aspect of the table top gaming experience. Not an expert just one person trying to do what he can & trying to demonstrate that anyone can do it.

Mission statement

Background

I have been miniature gaming on and off since the 1970's. Started with historical figures, Napoleonic  Airfix, and world war II Airfix, Fujimi, Matchbox etc. In the 1980's I got into fantasy figures, both for wargaming and for RPG play. This gradually led to Games Workshop, and Warhammer Fantasy Battle. This game dominated my table top gaming, along with Epic, & Battle Fleet Gothic.

Fast forward to 2019, finds me doing a lot of skirmish gaming, mostly Pulp Alley. I still have all my WH Fantasy Battle armies, Epic & BFG, I have expanded my WWII collections, and added:
  •  VSF
  •  1930/40's pulp adventures skirmish
  •  Space pulp skirmish
  •  Congo skirmish
  •  15mm Sci-fi
  •  Dystopian Wars
  •  Zombie post apocalypse skirmish
  •  Super hero skirmish
  •  Wild West skirmish
  •  Ancient Greece skirmish
  • Napoleonic skirmish
You may sense a trend towards small scale games...😃

The mission statement

A long way to get to this mission statement. I am trying to demonstrate what I do to paint the figures that I play with. Despite the number of years that I have been involved in this hobby, I am certainly not an expert painter or builder. The point of this blog is not to demonstrate the perfect way to paint something, it is to show how an imperfect painter can produce decent figures. I hope to show that the key to getting things done is as simple as just get started. Even my first post shows the mistakes that I have made while painting. The key is to work past the errors, and just keep at it.

As a lifelong procrastinator, and a collector of a vast heap of lead and plastic, I understand the challenges involved in getting through a project, regardless of the size of the project.

The plan is to post pictures, discussions, pseudo tutorials of the stuff that I am working on for my games. It is an extension of my existing blog Rants and Ramblings of an Unfocused Gamer.

The pseudo tutorials will show how I did something, which may, but more likely may not, be the best way to do something. What they should show is how I started a project, how I worked on it, and hopefully the end result (or as close to the end as I got until I got distracted/sidetracked/gave up)

Bottom line, I hope to demonstrate that anyone can have a reasonable amount of success in this hobby, that regardless of skill level anyone can produce tabletop worthy stuff. If I can do it anyone can do it.
