A while back I ordered some furniture from Black Cat Bases. As all too often happens I scanned the items when they arrived and then put them out of sight for another day. Well they were not very well hidden from me, in fact I kept stumbling over them while looking for other items. This happened one time too many and that was it, I decided I would paint them up and then properly store them away.
That will show them!
So I grabbed a few GW Contrast paints and had at them. This worked fine for the couches and chairs but I was not happy with the end result on the mattresses. Not an issue with the paint more a disconnect between my vision and my technique. In the end, the various contrast paints operated as a base (as GW suggests) which was then followed up with layers and washes.
Dry brushing brought out the old distressed look of the furniture, various Vallejo stains added to the rubbish look of the mattresses and Vallejo moss and lichen took the place of exposed foam on the couches.
Of course brown and dark washes added some depth to all items, and a light dry brush/dabbing of GW Flayed flesh brought out the mattresses. The painting is done, not certain what to do with them, may base some of them, for now they are in one of my 'zombie' hardware storage bins ready to be deployed.
As for the fountain, nothing special here, various shades of grey dry brushed over a black base coat. The real fun was the water, which was simple enough to do, I painted the underside of the clear plastic water elements with model colour Blue-grey. I like the subdued colour of the water, and the molded ripples keep it from looking too blue.
