My take on this aspect of the table top gaming experience. Not an expert just one person trying to do what he can & trying to demonstrate that anyone can do it.

My new favorite tool (and pics of the Landship to demonstrate)
I had heard about these before, but never picked one up. It is a Gundam marker, intended for use on their giant robot kits. They come in many colours, are double tipped, very thin one end, fatter on the other. I tested this one out on my AQMF Landship, as I was looking for a way to define the armour plating, to give the model some more visual appeal.

In the trenches
Quite some time ago I bought these nice 15mm trenches from Ironclad Miniatures. They are really very nice, very good detail, decent amount of space for the placing of based troops.

Next project?
I sense my painting funk is on the verge of coming to an end. The question now is what will be the first to be painted?
Will it be these plant based creatures...
or will it be this behemoth?
Stay tuned, I think December may just be my big painting month!
(fingers crossed)

Sledgehammer BFG
So just got this the other day. Usually I do one of two things with a new purchase:
- Take it out of the package, play around with it, dry assembly etc then get distracted and not put it away and just allow it to gather dust, and or loose parts
- Add it to a pile of unopened items to be built later.
Instead I did the rarely seen third option, I assembled it right away, and primed it!

Next fur mat project
A quick post today, showing what the blanket looks like fresh from the store before any spraying has started. This one is different than the first two I have used, as it is fuzzier (as seen in the second picture) The first was pretty dense, the second had an odd texture similar to this one, but less fuzzy.
At any rate I look forward to seeing how this one turns out.

Found some new stuff at my local convention
So this years Cangames in Ottawa (the 43rd annual convention) found me once again parting with lots of money. While cued up for the bring and buy I spotted this Linka set at a private sale booth. I thought for certain that someone else would grab it but they did not! Never used this before, but I figure for $10.00 I could not go far wrong. The set has never been used, it contains the plaster, the mixing bowls and 4 molds, everything one needs!

Mat number 2
Well, I still had a clear table, and one more mat that I could work on, so I tackled the green mat this morning. Again this was a throw blanket, but less like fur than the first mat. It was a more wispy, satin finished olive green coloured material. Unlike the first mat, this one really did not accept a brush or comb, as both would wind up getting tangled up in the material. While I toyed around with making paths and open areas, in the end I have decided to just make a simple mat, that I would add paths or roads using add on pieces. Once I have added extra scatter scenery, the areas without scatter terrain would become the open areas.

Project completed ??? (Part 2 of fur mat build)
So, the mat is done?!?
I changed the game plan part way in, and it shifted this project into overdrive.
I finally start on my first 'fur' mat
A while back I bought this throw from Dollarama with plans of making a mat for the Congo game. It is roughly 4' x 5' and unlike most teddy bear fur it is stitched along the sides, so should hold together well. It is not true teddy bear fur, so it is much shorter than what seems to be typically used for this type of project. However, unlike teddy bear fur this does not seem to shed. A step by step guide cn be found closer to the end of this posting. Please note I am in the middle of this project so no shots of the finished mat, but certainly some showing the progress made so far.

and now some North American woods
So in the middle of a jungle campaign what should I decide to build, but some woods for a future Great White North campaign! The woods follow the typical CD build as demonstrated by Mel, The Terrain Tutor, and others. I had laid the ground work for these some months back, and rather than put them away for some other day I chose to complete them.
I still have two that had been misplaced, so I will hopefully get to them this week.

Tower complete
So it is done, though I may still add some more greenery. Model is from Fenris, extra rock out crops on base from Woodland Scenics.

Stuff painted in 2019 Jan/Feb figures, scenery, vehicles
Almost the end of the month, time to record my efforts for the first two months. Part of my challenge this time around is my inherent unfocused nature. I currently have a lot of almost finished projects, 1/2 dozen ruins, a temple, 60+ Congo figures, and so much more.
All this jumping back and forth on projects means that I do not have as much to post as I should.

First video a quick look at reviving some old scenic battle boards
Hello all
One of our club members mentioned an interest in playing Dystopian Wars. This suggestion prompted me to pull out some boards that I had built a few years ago. So instead of working on my current Pulp Alley project, I have become distracted by yet another project. On the other hand I have been looking for something to use in a video...

Short post of some random scenery
While I have been working towards the Pulp Alley Lemuria campaign, that has not stopped me from getting distracted and working on other random projects.

Start of a pair of grain silos for a Lemurian village
The eggs with some dry brushing |
A while ago I made a find in a dollar store, this dinosaur egg, that contains a dino skeleton. I actually bought this for the egg, it had an interesting texture to it and I thought it might work as a hull of a boat. Unfortunately it did not open up the way I hoped. At any rate I figured at least I had some bones for an archeological dig.

Yet another blog by me, Menelduir
The plan is to post pictures, discussions, pseudo tutorials of the stuff that I am working on for my games. It is an extension of my existing blog Rants and Ramblings of an Unfocused Gamer.
Quick note any pseudo tutorials will show how I did something, which may, but more likely may not be the best way to do something. What they would show is where I started a project, how I worked on it, and hopefully the end result (or as close to the end as I got until I got distracted/sidetracked/gave up)
Bottom line, I hope to demonstrate that anyone can have a reasonable amount of success in this hobby, that regardless of skill level anyone can produce tabletop worthy stuff. If I can do it anyone can do it.
