My take on this aspect of the table top gaming experience. Not an expert just one person trying to do what he can & trying to demonstrate that anyone can do it.

Two gates finished and based

The dark stone gate had been mostly painted and sitting around the basement for more than a year, while the desert tan gate had been unassembled in a bag.

No idea what colours I used for the first gate, but easy enough to guess some variations on black primer, and several layers of progressively lighter shades of grey. As for the tan coloured gate I followed some of the GW web site guidelines with paints I already had.

  1. Primed white
  2. GW Skeleton horde wash
  3. Vallejo Iraqi sand dry brush
  4. Dry brush GW Eldar flesh
  5. Army painter soft tone for base and stairs
  6. Vallejo old gold for base detail
For the grey bits
  1. GW Grey seer
  2. Wash of GW Basilicanum grey
For the flames
  1. Iyanden yellow was over white primer
  2. Game color Hot orange where flames and stone meet
  3. Model color Deep yellow painted on as highlight
